The National Consensus Commission, led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, is meeting with political parties on Thursday afternoon. The session began at 3:00pm at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road, marking a pivotal step toward achieving a democratic transition in Bangladesh following the historic mass uprising of July-August.This gathering aims to initiate dialogue among political parties regarding the reform proposals outlined in reports submitted by six major commissions tasked with reshaping state institutions for a smooth democratic transition. These reports will serve as the foundation for discussions, with the ultimate goal of reaching consensus and drafting a charter—the "July Charter"—to guide the electoral process.

Addressing reporters before the meeting, Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam explained the significance of this initiative: "After the unprecedented mass uprising in July-August, the rebirth of Bangladesh is underway. This meeting marks the beginning of a political solution aimed at ensuring a democratic transition through dialogue. We hope that the recommendations from the six reform commissions will be discussed thoroughly with all political parties, leading to a collective agreement."

He added, "Once signed by all parties, this document will form the basis of the July Charter, which will determine the election timeline. While December remains the most likely date for elections, final decisions will depend on the outcomes of these discussions."
